Psychologist

Session type: Individual and group sessions

The psychologist supports women and their partners during the perinatal period, helping them connect with the value of parenthood and foster healthy relationships — both as a couple and within their wider family. They also assist in managing emotional challenges, whether pre-existing or emerging during the transition to parenthood (such as sadness, anger, anxiety, or intrusive thoughts).

Our goal is for psychological support to not only help manage difficulties but also meet emotional needs, ensuring a meaningful and fulfilling experience of parenthood.

WITH YOU MAMA offers psychological support during pregnancy and the postpartum period through the Parenting Preparation Group: Mindfulness in Pregnancy and Birth and the Counselling Support Group. These groups provide a safe space where women can share their emotions, thoughts, and concerns about the changes they are experiencing.

Our psychologists provide support to pregnant women and mothers in the following ways

During pregnancy (antenatal period):

Body image concerns during pregnancy

Emotional challenges due to pregnancy complications (e.g., bleeding, placental abruption)

Managing twin pregnancies

Health-related anxiety

Worry about potential pregnancy loss

Feelings of sadness, irritability, or depression, even in response to situations that might not typically cause distress

Low self-esteem

After childbirth (postnatal period):

Challenges in forming a strong bond with the baby

Emotional difficulties linked to the baby’s developmental stages (e.g., feeding, establishing sleep and breastfeeding routines)

Ongoing fears about the baby’s safety or one’s ability to protect the child

Coping with medical issues (e.g., NICU admission, hospitalization, prematurity)

Body image struggles after birth

Parenting Preparation Group: Mindfulness in Pregnancy and Birth

Mindfulness is a practice that encourages living in the present moment, free of judgment or anxiety about the future or the past.

During pregnancy and early parenthood, mindfulness can be especially beneficial.

Group psychological support using mindfulness offers a holistic and meaningful approach to caring for pregnant women and new parents, equipping participants with valuable skills and strengthening their mental well-being throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting.

In short, this program promotes a more conscious and positive experience of pregnancy and parenthood, empowering parents to offer — and receive — support, calmness, and deep connection with their child.

Benefits of mindfulness-based support:

Reduced anxiety and fear around childbirth:
Participants learn mindfulness techniques to manage anxiety and fear, fostering a calmer, more empowering birth experience.

Increased confidence in childbirth:
Group sessions boost parents’ confidence, helping them recognize and trust their inner strengths.

Effective pain management:
Expectant mothers learn to approach pain without intense reactions, developing acceptance-based, calming coping strategies.

Enhanced emotional well-being:
Mindfulness practices help prevent postpartum depression and support overall emotional wellness, easing the transition to parenthood.

Stronger parent–child connection:
Cultivating empathy and acceptance helps parents build a strong, positive bond with their child from the very beginning.

Partner support and empowerment:
Partners actively participate, learning how to provide meaningful support, manage stress, and strengthen their relationship, contributing to the overall birth experience.

Improved coping skills for stress:
Mindfulness techniques equip parents with resilience to face the everyday challenges of parenthood.

Counselling Support Group

Focusing on emotional empowerment, the Counselling Support Group provides participants with support, understanding, and practical advice to help them adjust to this new life stage.

Through small group sessions, women receive meaningful support and build connections with other women in similar situations, fostering a sense of belonging, information, and empowerment to face the challenges of motherhood.

Our aim is to strengthen the psychological resilience and self-confidence of new mothers, helping them navigate pregnancy and early motherhood with calm, confidence, and a sense of security.
